FHW, Berlin, November 28
As in the last couple of years this auction and small collectors bourse were held on the premises of the Berliner Volksbank, cosy and enjoyable. 1,762 lots were offered, 624 not German, and 44% sold. Even though many high priced pieces remained unsold, the mid range of €500-€1,000 was quite successful and contributed to a satisfying result of €150,550 (£137,000/$225,000).
150 lots were called at half the start-price. The material, from around 20 different large collections, was unsold in previous FHW auctions. This brought some live bidding action on the floor and was appreciated by all.
The collectors bourse was small with mainly local exhibitors. At the end a joint dinner at a nearby Italian restaurant was again cosy and enjoyable with less than 15 attendees. |
